Successful use of Social Media is still quite rare, but Swedish furniture company, Ikea, have recently completed a very innovative campaign, according to Social Media website Mashable. The campaign involved promoting the new Ikea store in Malmo. They chose facebook to get people to promote their store for them.

They created a facebook profile for their store manager on Facebook and put up 12 photos of their showroom on his profile. They then invited individuals to tag themselves on products within each photo. The first one to tag a product- got the product free!

The impact of this was that Ikea's new Malmo store was seen through the profiles of not only the individuals who entered, but also through their network of friends. Very clever indeed!
