Our Upgrades for December 2012

As all of our Siternity customers already know we are constantly upgrading the Siternity Content Management System (CMS) - over 300+ upgrades over the past 2 years (c. 150 per year). Having just rolled out our final batch of upgrades for 2012 we just wanted to outline a few of them and tell you more about the Webtrade Siternity "Always Upgraded, Always Under Warranty" Model.

Upload and Crop Photos

In our image resizer and library we have now introduced an option to Upload and Crop your image. Anyone can hone in on a specific part of any new image that they want to use while uploading. A great example would be in the case of a football team; they could isolate one particular player and use that image for Man of the Match reports or a player profile gallery. Everyone is familiar to doing this on their Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter profile picture, but being able to do it on all the pictures on your website is something unique.

Smart-Delete Photos

Have you ever landed on a website and seen a broken image icon? We'd like to help you stop that from happening on your website. Now when you delete and image from the library, the system searches your website for any usage of that image and prompts you to proceed or cancel if the image is found to have been used in a page, gallery or banner. This avoid having broken images on your website. Remember that broken images and broken links are bad in the eyes of Google; we're trying to help you avoid getting punished by them and keeps the site looking 100%.

Search Pages

Search pages are fast becoming the web users go-to section on a website. They're spending less time going through your site as they just want to go to the page they want. With this upgrade the results page has been optimised to achieve a performance increase when searching. It's all about the User Navigation, pages that are easy to find for the user all help their journey on your website.

Breadcrumb Navigation

This improvement gives our customers the option to allow a limit to the number of characters for their long page names. There is also an option to show or hide current page in a breadcrumb. Again, this is about helping the user and their experience, think of your page as a simple to use tool that they can navigate easily and see where they have been.

Google Sitemap

When you publish something on your website we automatically update your sitemap and more importantly we send and update to Google's Sitemap. When you update your site now it will now include your News articles and Blog posts. Speed optimisation also applied to allow for larger navigations. The ability to see the Google Sitemap in Internet Explorer has also been added. Remember what we said about Content still being King? Well if you're creating a news article or blog posts this should help them get found, especially on your own sitemap. It all becomes part of the structure of your website.

and finally an update to our Shopping Cart

We've improved the 3D secure integration option implemented in Sitenity shopping cart System. We're all about making your shopping cart more secure, the more trust your customers have while using your site the more likely they will be to purchase the product there and then! It will also help you turn them into repeat customers down the line.
