Dare to be Digital goes live for The Digital Hub

(12 Mar 2004)

Webtrade has completed the new "Dare to be Digital" competition website, www.daretobedigital.ie, for The Digital Hub, who are an initiative of the Irish government to create an international digital enterprise area in Dublin city.

Game enthusiasts in Irish third-level institutions will have the chance to turn their love of games into a possible career thanks to a new competition, Dare to be Digital Ireland.
The competition, which is being run by The Digital Hub in conjunction with Diageo Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and the IDA Ireland, will provide student teams with the opportunity of developing their own games and presenting them to leading figures in the Irish and British gaming sector.

The site contains information on how to apply, competition timescales, details of the sponsors, latest news, a mailing list and a collaborative online forum.

Winning Dare to be Digital can lead to incredible opportunities. The overall 2003 Dare to be Digital winning team recently presented their idea to leading games company Electronic Arts.

Irish students must submit their games ideas in teams of five to The Digital Hub by April, 2004. The team must include at least one creative, one technical and one business management person. As these skill sets may not all exist in the one educational institution, collaboration between colleges is encouraged and assisted throigh the website online forum.
