Webtrade has developed an initiative for the Pensions Board that will allow easy access to vital pensions information through an on-line interactive Pensions Calculator on the Board’s web-site www.pensionsboard.ie. The Pensions Board also announced that this years National Pensions Awareness Week is scheduled to run from 13th September to 19th September 2004.

The Pensions Calculator allows the individual to estimate how much they should be contributing to ensure adequate pensions coverage in retirement. By taking into consideration the individual’s basic personal information for example age, gender and current salary the calculator estimates how much that person ideally should be contributing on a weekly and annual basis to their pension.
At the launch of the On-Line Pension Calculator, the Chief Executive of the Pensions Board, Ms Anne Maher said that the initiative illustrates the Board’s commitment to encouraging greater pensions awareness and understanding. ‘Given its ease of use, this calculator should be useful to everyone interested in their financial future. It is aimed at people who have not yet considered their future pension provision and should also be a wake-up call for the many people who already have pension provision in place but need to make sure they are saving enough for their retirement.
The Pensions Calculator is one of a number of ongoing initiatives being implemented by the Pensions Board under the National Pensions Awareness Campaign 2004. The Pensions Board is also organising National Pensions Awareness Week from 13th September to 19th September 2004.
Ms Maher announcing the details of the week said ‘The Pensions Board are delighted that the National Pensions Awareness Week in September will have the full support of employer representative organisations, Trade Unions, the Social Partners and the PRSA providers who will all play their part in promoting pensions awareness and uptake to their members and customers.’
